The Bookie’s Captain – Gameweek 24

In a similar feature to last year, we’re sharing with you who is this week’s most likely point scorers based on an algorithm we’ve created. The points are based on a player’s chance of scoring once, twice, three times a lady…. No sorry, just once and twice. As well as that we add defensive player’s clean sheet points and whether they’re expected to start or not. The variables for starting are ‘Yes’, ‘No’, and ‘Rotation’. With Yes giving a player 2 points, No 0, and Rotation 1. The points are taken from our Clean Sheet Gameweek 24 post which was shared earlier this week. Using this information we’ll help you choose your captain for Fantasy Football in game week 24.

A midfielder will naturally get more points for scoring, as will a defender, while a forward only gets 4 points. This can often lead to a midfielder with 50% chance of scoring (50% x 5 = 2.5) ending up with a higher expected point tally than a forward with 60% chance of scoring (4 x 60% = 2.4).

Mohamed Salah – Liverpool – Exp Points > 7.16

After a weekend off due to Liverpool “throwing” their FA Cup tie vs Wolves a few weeks back, Mo Salah and his teammates will be well rested for the visit of Leicester City on Wednesday night. While it may be a cliche, Liverpool will be treating every league game between now and May as a cup final in the hope on finally clinching the title after a near 30 year wait. Mo has been subject to a few prices rises in recent week and if he can keep up his recent form on Wednesday then I wouldn’t be surprised to see another rise before the GW25 deadline. He is a standout captaincy pick this week and you’ll be silly to go with anyone but him.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Arsenal – Exp Points > 5.82

Arsenal will be keen to get back to winning ways following the 3-1 defeat at home to Man Utd on Friday night which brought an end to their FA Cup campaign for another year. Cardiff City are the visitors to the Emirates on Tuesday night and Arsenal will know they are one of the 3 teams realistically fighting for the last of the Champions League qualification places. Aubameyang got Arsenals only goal on Friday night and he should see plenty action against a Cardiff side who are in a relegation battle. Could be goals galore in the game.

Paul Pogba – Man Utd – Exp Points > 5.72

Since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United have won 8 games in a row between all competitions. A player who has turned around his season within a few weeks in Paul Pogba who looks a completley different player compared to the Pogba we saw in the Mourinho era. United will look to keep this run going on Tuesday with the visit of Burnley. Pogba has been involved in a lot of goals in the Solskjaer era so far and I expect this to continue due to Paul playing in a more attacking role.
