The Bookie’s Captain for Gameweek 22

In a similar feature to last year, we’re sharing with you who is this week’s most likely point scorers based on an algorithm we’ve created. The points are based on a player’s chance of scoring once, twice, three times a lady…. No sorry, just once and twice. As well as that we add defensive player’s clean sheet points and whether they’re expected to start or not. The variables for starting are ‘Yes’, ‘No’, and ‘Rotation’. With Yes giving a player 2 points, No 0, and Rotation 1. The points are taken from our Clean Sheet Gameweek 22 post which was shared earlier this week. Using this information we’ll help you choose your captain for Fantasy Football in game week 18.

A midfielder will naturally get more points for scoring, as will a defender, while a forward only gets 4 points. This can often lead to a midfielder with 50% chance of scoring (50% x 5 = 2.5) ending up with a higher expected point tally than a forward with 60% chance of scoring (4 x 60% = 2.4).

Mo Salah – Exp Points 6.61

Liverpool’s B side lost to Wolves on Monday night 2-1. Mo Salah began that game on the bench before being introduced as a second-half sub to try and “save” the game. I use the term save loosely as I’m pretty sure that the Liverpool players were not all that interested in winning the game but that’s for another day. Liverpool face an away trip to Brighton on Saturday afternoon and will seek to extend their lead at the summit until Monday night at least. Expect Mo to have a big part to play in Liverpool’s title run and that should come in the form of goals and assists.

Eden Hazard  – Exp Points 6.59

Should come as no surprise to see Eden near the top of the expected points table for this week. Chelsea are at home to Newcastle on Saturday evening. Chelsea come into this fixture on the back of a narrow defeat to Spurs in the League Cup under somewhat dubious circumstances. Some FPL owners are beginning to lose patience with the Belgian star but sell him at your peril. I think he could do well this weekend and will be keen to get his side back on track.

Raheem Sterling – Exp Points 5.97

Raheem sat out of a 9-0 win over Burton Albion in the League Cup on Wednesday night so he’ll be well rested. He will be expected to start for the game vs Wolves on Monday night. Assuming Liverpool win on Saturday, Man City will be going all out to close the gap at the top of the table. The next few weeks will tell a lot in the title race once the Champions League gets going again. Expect Raheem to get plenty action on Monday night in a City side who have scored 16 goals in cup games over the past 2 weeks.
