Player rotation due to Champions League fixtures

Well folks, it’s the International break, a time where people wildcard and look to get some price rises( I may have done this in my personal team).I’ve decided to make this post because as soon as the fixtures came out for the champions league a lot of them looked very tough and could lead to player rotation for each team. I’d just like to clarify that I’m not saying these rotations will happen or that it’s what I’m expecting. I’m just stating that these are possibilities given the difficulty of fixtures. The tables below will help you throughout the following gameweeks hopefully as it’ll all be in one place for you!

Man City Fixtures

Quite straightforward for City in terms of fixtures. Pep rotates like a lunatic anyway so it’s hard to call what he’ll end up doing. I would think all the big hitters are dropped for the League Cup match. Considering all of Peps team are big hitters it’ll likely be Aguero dropped and Jesus starts. As City have a reasonable handy Champions league group the rotation will likely be in full effect. Otamendi, Delph, Danilo and Sane will all likely feature at some stage throughout the Champions League. It’s safe to say the Champions League draw was kind to City this year!

Spurs Fixtures

Tough fixtures for Spurs could lead to a lot of rotation between fixtures. I’m expecting to see a lot of rotation between the full backs Ben Davies and Rose at left back. Trippier and Aurier at right back. Son didn’t get sent for Military duty due to where South Korea finished in the Asia Cup. He’ll be back in contention over this difficult period. Could this mean fewer minutes for Lucas Moura? It’s hard to see Harry Kane, Dele Alli, or Eriksen rotated for any game except the League Cup.

Lorente will likely feature as the main striker in the League Cup. A lot of the rotations could be substitutes around the 60th-minute mark which is what I personally think will happen. Due to Spurs having such great cover for both full backs I don’t think they’re really an FPL option at this time. Trippier has looked great when he played unfortunately, his position isn’t nailed. It’s even less nailed on now over the next few fixtures.

Liverpool Fixtures

Oh boy, this is going to be very interesting to see. We saw Henderson come in for Keita in game-week 4, Klopp has stated in his interview that rotation will happen but to who is the question. Robertson has been exceptional at Left Back so far this season and has made that position his own. Fully expect Moreno to play the League Cup game and let Robertson rest.  Trent Alexander Arnold seems to be the starting fullback for Liverpool nowadays. However, Clyne has always been quite solid defensively and he could well feature in some of the upcoming games.

The midfield is going to be a blood-bath in terms of rotation. We saw Salah get subbed off in the 71st minute for Shaqiri in game-week 4. Is this the start of the rotation? I’ll be surprised if all 3 of Firmino, Mane and Salah finish a full game together coming up. So for those of you that have the triple attack, perhaps it’s best to get rid of one and just hope the rotation suits you.  Daniel Sturridge and Lallana will likely get a few minutes over the next few weeks. I expect them to start in the League Cup

Manchester United Fixtures

As you can see I added in an extra fixture for United in the table below due to the difficulty. Ashley Young will be back in contention over the coming fixtures which will interest all Luke Shaw owners. Shaw has gotten off to a great start but rotation could be imminent. Rashford will be suspended until the 29th of September. He will return Gameweek 7. This could see Martial get some game time since he wasn’t sold. Rashford will likely play in all the European games due to this suspension. With United limited on strikers over the busy period it’ll be interesting to see if Lukaku will be rested and Sanchez plays up front at any stage. I think it’s safe to assume Lukaku will 100% be rested in the league cup.
